FAST Admission 2026: Test Pattern, Merit Cutoffs & What Actually Gets You In

UNiGUIDE Team

Campus Comparison Desk

Last updated: October 2026Verified against FAST NUCES admissions · UNiGUIDE admissions database

FAST admission runs on FAST NUCES's own admission test, and the university admits on a combined merit of that test plus your FSc or A-Level equivalence. The detail that catches applicants out is that FAST's campuses are not interchangeable — merit for the same program differs substantially between Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad and Faisalabad, and applicants routinely aim at one campus only to be competitive at another. This guide covers the test pattern, how merit works, and how to think about campus choice.

The FAST admission test

FAST conducts its own entrance test and does not accept ECAT, ETEA or NTS NAT. The test emphasises mathematics and analytical ability, which means preparation built around ECAT's physics and chemistry weighting is poorly matched to it.

ComponentWeightWhy it decides things
MathematicsHighLargest single determinant of the test score
Analytical / reasoningMediumSeparates near-identical applicants
EnglishLow–mediumSmall, but cheap marks
Component weights vary by program and year — verify against the current FAST admission brochure.

Campus choice is not a formality

This is the part that changes outcomes. Applicants treat FAST as one institution with one cutoff, when in reality each campus admits separately and cutoffs differ meaningfully. Choosing your campus with clear eyes is worth more than an extra week of preparation.

Clearing the confusion

Clearing the confusion: 'FAST uses ECAT'

It does not. FAST NUCES runs its own admission test and accepts no substitute. This error appears on numerous third-party sites and leads directly to applicants preparing for the wrong exam for an entire year.

Frequently asked questions

Does FAST accept ECAT or NTS NAT?

No. FAST NUCES conducts its own admission test and does not accept ECAT, ETEA or NTS NAT scores for admission.

How is FAST merit calculated?

FAST combines its own admission test score with your FSc result or A-Level equivalence. The test carries substantial weight, so preparation for it matters more than marginal FSc improvement.

Is FAST Lahore harder to get into than FAST Faisalabad?

Campus cutoffs differ, with Lahore and Islamabad generally more competitive than Faisalabad and Peshawar. Applicants often apply to multiple campuses to keep options open.

Which FAST program is most competitive?

Computer Science and its related tracks, including Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security, are typically the most competitive programs across FAST campuses.
