What we collect
UNiGUIDE does not require an account to use. Most features — deadlines, merit calculator, community — work without you sharing anything. The only time we collect personal information is when you voluntarily apply to join the contributor team.
Volunteer applications
When you apply to join the data team, we collect your full name, phone number, student type, and optionally how you heard about us. This data is stored securely in our database (Supabase) and is only used to review your application and contact you on WhatsApp. We do not sell or share this information with third parties.
Local storage
We use your browser's localStorage for two things: caching university data for faster load times (1-hour TTL), and saving merit calculator inputs per university so you don't have to re-enter them. None of this data leaves your device.
Anonymous usage data
We collect anonymous usage analytics to understand how people use UNiGUIDE — which pages are visited, which universities are searched, and general performance metrics. No personally identifiable information is included.
Third-party services
- Vercel — hosting and performance analytics
- Supabase — database for university data and volunteer applications
- Google Analytics — anonymous page view tracking
WhatsApp community
If you join our WhatsApp group, your phone number will be visible to group members and is governed by WhatsApp's own privacy policy. We do not store or process any data from the WhatsApp group.
